Town & Country School: A BRIEF TIMELINE
1961 – Town & Country School received its IRS501(c)(3) status in July. The school housed its programs at John Knox Presbyterian Church.
1984 – Town & Country School broadened the scope of its program and began serving students with learning disabilities as well as those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), based on research that reported as many as 25% of the children diagnosed with ADHD have learning disabilities and approximately 33% of students with learning disabilities have ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder and Learning Disabilities, Barbara D. Ingersoll, Ph.D., and Sam Goldstein, Ph.D.). In 2008, Town & Country School once again met the needs of families in the community by offering programs for children with Asperger’s Syndrome/Autism Spectrum Disorders. T&C admissions require that a student must have a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, ADHD or Asperger’s Syndrome/Autism Spectrum Disorders with an average to above average IQ.
1988 – The school’s growth demanded more space. Town & Country School relocated to the former TPS Jones Elementary School building. The larger facility allowed for the expansion of the school’s programs and the ability to accommodate a greater number of students.
1997 – As the school’s growth continued, even more space was required and the school moved to a 9.5-acre campus in South Tulsa. Town & Country School leased these facilities at 5150 East 101st Street until purchasing the current property in June 1999, a major accomplishment for the school.
1996, 1997, 1998 and 1999 – Each September, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades were added respectively.
2000 – Town & Country School graduated its first senior class in May.
2011 – Enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year was 138 students with a graduating class of 12. Enrollment reached a record 155 students. With this achievement, we outgrew our 101st & Yale campus and began exploring options to accommodate our needs for expansion.
2012 – In June, Town & Country School purchased Tulsa Public School’s Fulton Teaching and Learning Academy at 8906 E. 34th St. The new campus allows for current and future growth with spacious classrooms, an auditorium and a large library. This, and the sale of our 101st & Yale property a week later, was a major accomplishment for the school.
2016- In the fall, Town & Country School broke ground on what is now the Zarrow Sports Complex. When we first came to our new home in the Fulton Neighborhood, it did not have a gymnasium which was not sufficient for all of our sports programs and PE classes. We had to create one out of several offices. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, we have been able to complete an incredible 10,400 square foot facility which will be the home of our Knights basketball teams, running club, cheerleading and physical education classes. We also have plans to add an additional 1,700 sq foot tornado shelter this fall. The Zarrow Sports Complex was completed and ready for use for the 2017-2018 school year.
2018 – Town & Country School received the Tulsa Run Award in the amount of $25,000, which funded the installation of our running track. This provided students with opportunities to participate in structured running through PE and Running Club, while also developing a lifelong skill for emotional self-regulation in a safe, non-competitive environment.
2019 – The school secured additional funding to install a storm shelter, enhancing campus safety and emergency preparedness.
2021 – Recognizing the significant benefits of outdoor learning, Town & Country School added an outdoor classroom and musical garden. This space supports student regulation and engagement by offering fresh air and natural light, which reduce mental fatigue, lower anxiety, and decrease frustration.
2023 – As enrollment grew to 170 students, the school expanded its facilities to include an additional classroom, new counseling offices, and the addition of our first school nurse, further strengthening student support services.
2025 – Town & Country School reached its highest enrollment to date with 183 students and continues to maintain a waiting list, reflecting both strong demand and sustained growth.
